3 Charged in Augusta Man’s Murder Near Waffle House

Three men have been charged with murder in the death of a n Augusta man who was found shot to death early Tuesday near Waffle House on Wrightsboro Road.

TezzyElijah Washington, Brandon Carter and Shawncy Barrett are facing charges of murder and other offenses in the shooting death of 26-year-old Terrance “Tezzy” Baker (pictured at right).

Authorities refused to discuss a possible motive in the case, leaving the public to only guess at the cause of deadly violence in the Augusta area.

The victim was found shot about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday on the 3400 block of Wrightsboro Road in Augusta.  Baker was shot at least one time, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

“(He) was observed deceased just outside of his vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound,” sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Shane McDaniel Sr. said in a press release.

  • ELIJAH WASHINGTONElijah Washington, 35, of Thomas Lane, Augusta, is being charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Murder. (Elijah Washington has previous convictions for battery and cocaine possession, resulting in some prison time, according to an online case management website operated by Richmond County.)
  • BRANDON CARTERBrandon Carter, 20, of Thomas Lane, Augusta, is being charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Murder. (He has a 2014 conviction for burglary that earned him five years of probation, according to an online case management website operated by Richmond County government officials.)
  • SHAWNCY BARRETTShawncy Barrett, 24, who is described as homeless, is being charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Murder. (He has a conviction for criminal trespass.)
