Aiken Teens, 19 & 15, Arrested in Pace’s Run Murder

Kartel D’Marco SmithAiken Public Safety Officers have arrested 19-year-old Kartel D’Marco Smith and a 15-year-old juvenile male in connection with the murder of Makenzie Loron Williamson at Pace’s Run Apartments.

Aiken Public Safety Officers have charged both Smith (pictured) of Aiken and the juvenile with the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
  • Armed Robbery

Aiken Public Safety investigators were able to connect both subjects to Saturday’s murder of Makenzie Loron Williamson on the 800 Block of Brandt Court in Pace’s Run Apartments.  Kartel Smith is currently incarcerated in the Aiken County Detention Center.  The juvenile is currently incarcerated at the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

The arrests were the result of effective police work and community engagement.

The investigation is not complete and more arrests are likely.
