An Augusta man was shot in the street Wednesday morning and his killer has been captured, authorities said.
On Wednesday morning at 8:49 a.m., Richmond County deputies were called to the 1100 block of Camille Street in reference to a person being shot. Deputies arrived and located the body of 66-year-old Russell Boyd in the road. Boyd was shot at least one time in the torso and died at the scene.
Investigators learned that Boyd had been in an argument with 28-year-old Ronnie Lee Berrian at the suspect’s home. Berrian produced a firearm during the argument and Boyd attempted to flee the home, according to sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser.
According to witnesses, Berrian chased after Boyd and shot Boyd in the street. Berrian then fled the scene in a 1992 model Cadillac Deville but was captured soon after.
Berrian was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
