An Augusta man was killed in an overnight stabbing on Dewitt Street, authorities said.
Samuel Hackett, 52 (pictured here in an earlier arrest for shoplifting), was the victim of a stabbing and was rushed to the GHSU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:51 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release from Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose.
WRDW-TV is reporting that Hackett was stabbed three times by an unidentified suspect who chased him down the street and then fled in a car. Hackett reportedly went looking for help, entered a home and was found by a witness who called the hospital.
The sheriff’s office has not announced an arrest or suspect description.
