how can someone hurt a child so bad to cause harm? what is wrong with these people????

Ma’am I am a parent and can honestly say that there is a fine line between discipline and abuse. I am a parent as well as a counselor and know the ugly truths to abuse. I had a situation where I disciplined my son because he wanted to go to a party, and he tried to swing on me because I took away his phone and told him that no 14 year old of mine was going to a party full of drugs and alcohol. Anyways after he punched at me i grabbed him and held him down to defuse the matter. He called the police on me and said that I abused him. Well when the cops arrived they told him that he was in the wrong and let him know that I in fact did not abuse him. The point of the matter is that we can’t judge all situations as child abuse and make comments on people when there is definitely always two sides to the story. I want to know in your opinion did I or did I not abuse my child , and what would you had done differently if your child tried to fight you because you were not allowing them to go to a party.
