A 17-year-old Evans teen was charged Friday with statutory rape after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Christian Lavarias, a student at Lakeside High School, is accused by the girl’s father of having sex with his underage daughter Sept. 13 in a bedroom of a home on Hillwood Street in Martinez, according to a Columbia County sheriff’s report. Neither the suspect nor the girl lived at the home where they had sex, according to the report.
Lavarias has a listed home address in Harlem while the girl’s father lists their address at another home in Martinez.
The father reported the incident to the sheriff’s office and said he wanted to prosecute the young man. Lavarias was charged on Friday. He has since been released on bond.
