A Grovetown man shot a house guest in the back after a heated argument Thursday night, killing the victim, authorities said.
Lee Conner, 30 (above), was charged with murder and weapon possession in the death of Christopher Dugan (right).
The victim and a friend were visiting Conner on Thursday night at his home on Pinetree Street when the shooting happened, according to Grovetown Public Safety Chief Scott Wheatley. The suspect had been arguing with his wife and Dugan stepped in, resulting in a heated exchange between them.
At some point, Conner pulled a .22-caliber handgun and shot Dugan in the back, killing him. Someone called 911 and officers arrived to find the victim dead. Conner was not cooperative, authorities said. (He is pictured at right, with rifle, from Facebook.)
Friends of Dugan are already remembering him online:
From Gabrielle Elaine Gumus: “Woke up to some super sad news. We have had some crazy times together. Many, many stories!! I was really hoping this wasn’t true. As crazy as you were, this should never happen. I’m so sorry for this. Christopher Dugan, you will be missed. Rest In Peace Dugan! We love you.”
