A Hephzibah man has been taken into custody in connection with the death of live-in girlfriend early this morning, authorities said.
Todd Goff, 24 (left), is being held in the death of 22-year-old Tiffany Salter (right). Both were featured in our paper two weeks ago for disorderly conduct arrests.
Just before 7 a.m. this morning, sheriff’s deputies and Hephzibah police were called to 4436 Reynolds Street for a domestic dispute and unresponsive female.
Once there, they found Salter lying on the ground unresponsive in a wooded area behind the home. EMS had also arrived and found that Salter was deceased.
“During the course of the initial investigation, it was learned that the suspect, Todd Goff, called his mother and advised her that he and Salter were involved in an altercation and during the altercation he choked her and she was not breathing,” sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Carrier Jr. said in a press release. “Goff’s mother in turn called 911.” Goff was taken into custody at the scene after a brief struggle with officers.
“Goff is currently being held at the Richmond County Jail in reference to the death of Salter pending the results of the autopsy which is being conducted on Monday in Atlanta. No formal charges have been brought against Goff at this time,” Sgt. Carrier said.
Goff is a repeat offender featured several times in The Jail Report on charges of marijuana possession, obstruction of an officer, battery and family violence battery.
Goff appeared in The Jail Report last summer with a black eye, facing serious charges of battery and family violence battery. He was never held responsible for those charges and they both ended up on the “dead docket,” according to online court records.
