Jury Acquits Preacher of Trespassing & Obstruction at Masters

-

In Augusta, a six-member jury on Monday watched the video of deputies arresting a Tennessee preacher during the Masters and found him not guilty of trespassing and obstruction of an officer.

Larry Craft testified that he was not trespassing on club property and did nothing to resist arrest when officers arrested him during Masters Week. The jury agreed and found him not guilty.

A sheriff’s report had accused Craft of displaying “aggressive behavior towards patrons about their religious beliefs and how they were dressed.”
He was told not to return to the Masters and did anyway, a report says.

In a phone call with The Jail Report after the verdict, Craft said he was happy to receive justice from the jury.

“Hopefully this will establish a precedence for street preachers and they won’t have the same problem,” said Craft, who has preached outside The Masters for nine years and plans to return next year.
