Murder Arrest – Augusta Teen Jailed in Party Shootings

-

Richmond County Investigators have arrested 17-year-old Dijon Cortez Abbott in connection with the Thursday night’s shootings that killed 19-year-old Marquez Eubanks and injured Jeremy Whitehead and Latrice Nelson.

Abbott was being treated at a local hospital before his arrest, but he was transferred to the jail overnight. He is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and two counts of aggravated assault.

Just before midnight Thursday, deputies found the shooting victims when they responded to a loud party at 2536 East Kensington Drive in Augusta. Eubanks later died from his injury, Lt. Chew said.

Eubanks graduated in 2012 from Laney High School, where he played football for four years.
