Retired dentist Dr. George Snelling III was arrested Tuesday for writing a fraudulent prescription for Valium and Tramadol, authorities said.
Dr. Snelling, 61, of Brae Burn Drive, Martinez, is accused of writing the prescription for an employee of the Washington Road storage facility that Dr. Snelling owns. He wrote the prescription for the employee “with the intentions to distribute the pills to a third person,” a sheriff’s report says.
A suspicious pharmacist at Walgreens in Martinez was unfamiliar with the doctor’s name and provided authorities with two handwritten prescriptions signed by Dr. Snelling. The dentist has been retired for over a decade. An investigation led to the charges Tuesday.
The retired dentist was arrested and charged with attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud, attempting to obtain a dangerous drug (Tramadol) by fraud and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance,” a report says.
He has been released on a $18,800 bond.
