A 17-year-old patient at an Augusta behavioral health facility was charged this week with child molestation for allegedly giving a hand job to a 12-year-old boy.
Thomas Ray Davis, 17, of Sylvester, Ga., was charged as an adult Wednesday with non-aggravated child molestation and remains at the Richmond County Jail under no bond.
An employee of Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta told authorities they caught Davis on video committing the sexual act against the younger patient at the doorway of the victim’s room. The victim, who is also from out of town, had apparently agreed to the act in exchange for providing oral sex to the older teen.
Authorities say the 12-year-child has the mentality of a 4 year old. However, the older teen has a normal IQ.
According to its website, Lighthouse is a 78-bed residential behavioral health facility serving the needs of children and adolescents. The facility provides a highly structured and therapeutic environment that “contributes to the improvement of the patients’ daily functioning.”
Lighthouse, located on Perimeter Parkway, also operates a private school on its campus, which is approved by the Georgia Department of Education.
