2 Young Men Identified in Augusta’s Weekend Slayings

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has identified two people who were fatally shot Saturday night in separate homicides that were five miles apart.

Kyan Michael Bowie, 22, of Hephzibah, was shot around 9:20 p.m. Saturday on the 2100 block of B Street in Olmstead Homes. He died at shortly after someone in a private vehicle rushed him to Augusta University Medical Center.

Tymarkus Dashawn Starkes, 20, of Augusta, was shot around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at 1949 Old Savannah Road and was pronounced dead on the scene about an hour later, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The sheriff’s office is unsure whether the shootings are related. No motive or arrests were announced.

Friends and family of the victims are remembering the pair online.

Earnest Dukes said this: “Rip to both of my Bros Luh Kappalot & Kyan Bowie. … What is this world coming to? They taking all our dawgs. Man pray for our city.”

Mikey Slaski said this:  “R.I.P Kyan Bowie you had so many great plans the world could never be ready for.”
