50 Arrests Made in Richmond County Operation

The Richmond County Sherriff’s Office in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Board of Pardons & Parole, and the United States Marshall’s Service conducted a 2 day Joint Task Force, “Operation Community Impact”.  This was done in direct support of identified Augusta areas in order to enhance safety and security of those selected locations by focusing on the service of outstanding warrants and practicing community oriented policing targeting those validated as gang members in the area.

Agencies participating:

RCSO – 20 Deputies under the command of Lieutenant Lewis Blanchard and Sergeant Hal Hitchcock

GDC – 49 staff (Including Admin staff, Special Ops members at Command Center and embedded trainer) under the command of Field Commander William Diver and Chief Probation Officer Pamela Gould

Parole – 13 under the command of Chief Derrick Singleton

US Marshall’s Service – 3

 As of 11 p.m. Thursday, a total of 37 warrants have been cleared with the following number of arrests: 50

Arrest break down as follows:

Probation Warrants: 35

Parole Warrants: 4

Civilian Arrests: 14 (Arrests made for current laws being broken or additional charges)

Searches Completed: 9

Searches involved Validated Gang Members: 6

In addition to the arrests, various quantities of drugs were recovered as well as handguns.
