Aiken County Coroner: Latest Fatality was Unrestrained Driver Who Flipped SUV

Aiken County’s latest traffic fatality was an unrestrained driver who flipped his SUV on Thursday morning in Batesburg.

Here is the press release from Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables:

“This morning at 6:51 a.m. the Aiken County Coroner’s Office was called to a single vehicle traffic fatality in the 2100 block of Old 96 Indian Trail, Batesburg. The unrestrained driver and sole occupant of a 2004 Nissan SUV was traveling north on Old 96 Indian Trail when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, the vehicle overturned after striking a culvert ejecting the driver.

“The driver, identified as Dexter Vallet (25 yo) of Pineville, South Carolina was pronounced dead on scene from blunt force injuries.

“The Coroner’s Office and Highway Patrol are continuing with the investigation. Toxicology analysis are pending.”
