Aiken County Man Dies in ATV Crash on Old Shoals Road

-

A Monetta man died Thursday evening following a fatal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident earlier in the day, according to Aiken County authorities.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 28-year-old Tristin Hill succumbed to his injuries at Wellstar MCG after being airlifted there following the crash.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Old Shoals Road in Monetta. Hill, who was operating a Bombardier quad runner southbound, reportedly lost control of the ATV, resulting in his ejection onto the roadway. Emergency responders transported Hill by helicopter to Wellstar MCG, where he passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and toxicology reports are pending, according to the coroner’s office.

Hill, a lifelong resident of the Aiken area, was employed as a maintenance technician at Michelin Tires, according to his obituary. He graduated from Silver Bluff High School and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Aiken. Hill enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers.

A graveside service for Hill will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Southlawn Cemetery. The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is handling the arrangements.
