‘Aiken Drug’ Owner & Pharmacist is Arrested by DHEC!

-

The Jail Report is working to find out more about the arrest of Aiken Drug Co. Owner Leonard Browder on two drug-related crimes.

Browder, 63, was charged Thursday with falsification of controlled substance records and possession of Schedule V drugs with intent to distribute. The arrest was made by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).

Arrest warrants say that Browder furnished false and fraudulent material information between May 2016 and September 2017 while acting as a registered pharmacist at Aiken Drug. He is also accused of directing the unlawful distribution of “guaifenesin/codeine phosphate” without determining a medical need. He had “repetitive sales without positive determination of medical need, creating a detriment to the public health and safety,” a warrant says.

DHEC says Browder did not fulfill his legal and professional responsibilities as a registered pharmacist working at Aiken Drug.

According to online records, Browder is the the owner and pharmacist at the store, located at 101 Laurens Street SW in downtown Aiken. He remained in jail on Friday afternoon, according to jail records.

A woman answering the phone at the store said the business and pharmacy were still operating.

Browder was last arrested in 2012 on charges of unlawful carrying of a pistol and an ABC alcohol violation, but those charges were later expunged.
