A Peeping Tom who allegedly recorded a 5-year-old girl using a public park bathroom has been arrested.
Christopher Crow, 40, of Aiken, was charged Sunday with voyeurism — violating place of privacy, views, photographs, records, or films.
Aiken City police were called to Odell Weeks Activity Center park at the 1700 block of Whiskey Road on Friday for reports of a Peeping Tom.
A mother told police she had taken her 5-year-old daughter to the women’s bathroom at the park when she noticed that there was a cell phone being pointed into the stall her child was using, a report says.
The mother quickly retrieved her child and stepped outside of the restroom to contact 911.
Less than a minute after exiting the bathroom, the mother said an older white male left the bathroom after her and walked quickly toward a red Kia in the parking lot and drove off. The mother described the man as having balding, grey hair and wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts. She provided his license plate to dispatchers.
Police later reviewed security footage from the park and determined that Crow had entered the bathroom long before the mother and child, the report says.
After the mother and child left, Crow could be seen on video walking out of the women’s bathrooms and into the doorway leading into the men’s bathrooms. He is holding a phone in his hand the entire clip. He later walks through the parking lot and gets into a red Kia.
Crow was arrested two days after the incident.
