Aiken Hoax: Black Mountain Lion Was Never Missing

Police say it was a hoax.

A domesticated mountain lion was reported missing early Sunday morning from a business on Richland Avenue West in Aiken, but it turned out to be false. And now, the investigation turns criminal with a possibility of charges for filing a false police report.

Officers say they responded to Aquarium Pets and were notified that a pet mountain lion was missing from the location, police said. But after spending hours on the lookout and after media plastered the story all over the Internet and TV, police learned the owner had not told the truth.
