-

Michael McNattA 13-year-old Augusta boy was accidentally shot and killed by a gun Friday that he and some friends were playing with, authorities said.

Michael Caleb McNatt (pictured) was shot at a home on Dove Roven Road in Augusta, Coroner Mark Bowen said. A call for help was made at 4:21 p.m. Friday and first responders found McNatt had been shot.

The teen was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m., the coroner said. McNatt did not live at the home. He lived on Alden Drive.

Sheriff’s Lt. Allan Rollins said the shooting was a result of several young people playing with a gun and the gun firing accidentally. No charges have been filed.

“It was not a homicide,” Lt. Rollins said. “It was kids playing with a gun. These were friends. They were like 12 and 13 years old. All of them were doing it. but only one of them had (the gun) at the moment (that it fired).”

An autopsy is planned.
