Augusta Boy, 13, Shoots Younger Sister While Playing with Gun

-

An Augusta boy shot his sister in the stomach while playing with a gun Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Deputies answered a call to the 700 Block of East Chapman Street regarding an injured child. They quickly learned that a 12-year-old girl had been shot once in her stomach “as a result of her 13 year old brother playing with a loaded weapon,” Sgt. Michael Shane McDaniel Sr said in a press release.

The 12 year old child has since been transported to Georgia Regents University for medical treatment and has been listed in stable condition.

“It is unknown if charges will be filed at this time according to Richmond County Sheriff’s Investigators. Further details will be forthcoming when available,” Sgt. McDaniel said.
