Augusta Boy, 14, Fatally Shot at Cedarwood Apartments

-

An Augusta boy was killed Tuesday night at Cedarwood Apartments, authorities said.

The 14-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was shot to death at the complex, located at 527 West Richmond Hill Road. Responding deputies were called to the apartment complex at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.

“Upon arrival, deputies located a 14 year old juvenile subject who was shot at least one time and succumbed to their injury,” sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee said in a press release.

The sheriff’s office did not comment on a possible motive or suspect. The release of the victim’s name is pending notification of kin.

Local residents expressed shock at the age of Augusta’s latest shooting victim.

Witness Shronda Reid said she heard the shots and then screams coming from the child’s mother and grandmother. “That really did something to me,” Reid said on Facebook, offering her prayers to them.
