Augusta Chase Ends When Suspect Hits Tree & Dies

A Richmond County vehicle pursuit ended Thursday night with the death of the suspect.

The vehicle was being chased at high speeds by law enforcement along the 3200 block of Washington Road when the driver lost control, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

“The vehicle struck a tree and the driver was ejected from the vehicle,” the coroner said.  “The driver was pronounced dead on the scene at 10 p.m. Thursday.”

Th driver’s name has not been released, pending notification of their family.
