Augusta Commissioner’s Home Searched in Drug Operation; Brother is Charged

-

The home of Augusta Commissioner Francine Scott was among those searched in a two-year investigation into a drug trafficking organization, ending in charges against multiple people including the commissioner’s brother.

Darryl Lee Scott, the 61-year-old brother of the commissioner, was charged Friday with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of Oxycodone, but those drugs were found at other locations. Commissioner Scott was not charged with anything, and authorities have not announced any discovery of drugs or weapons at her residence.

Darryl Scott listed his address as 1336 Wrightsboro Road, the same residence that was searched and the same Augusta home listed as the place of residence for Commissioner Scott when she filed campaign disclosure forms two years ago.

Contacted by phone on Monday afternoon, Commissioner Scott confirmed that Darryl Scott was her brother and that her home was searched.

“They did come to the house and that is all I can say,” she said before hanging up.

Darryl Scott – who has been convicted of cocaine possession in 1999 and escaped other drug charges since then – was allegedly found with 29 grams of crack cocaine in four plastic bags during a search Friday of 1104 Perry Avenue and 2 Oxycodone pills during a search on Sibley Street. He remained in jail Monday under no bond for the cocaine charge and a hold for probation and parole.

Darryl Scott was one of 19 trafficking-related suspects identified following a two-year undercover bust targeting Tyrone Guy’s Drug Trafficking Organization.

Local, state and federal agents executed 17 search warrants at Augusta residences and one in Martinez, seizing a large amount of drugs, weapons, cars and vehicles. This was part of a long probe into drug trafficking by Tyrone Guy’s Drug Trafficking Organization. Tyrone Guy A.K.A. “Pit Stick” and several of his associates were targeted in this investigation.

In a press release, Sheriff Richard Roundtree noted that most of these defendants were carrying or possessing firearms during their drug trafficking activities.

The other suspects are Tyrone Anthony Guy, Eldo Ricky Jones, Denzel Young, Willie Anthony Mathis, Deandre Pacquez Mays, Tyrone Rodriquez Wilcher, Tamara Verise Williamson, Tomoresnephia Zaetal Wright, Demetrius Montral Davis, Jeremy Marquez Smith, Rodriquez Chavantez Palmer, Chavantez Andrew Palmer, Joseph Kevin Barnes, Walter Donta Geter, Troy Leon Geter and Christopher Dewayne Anderson.
