Columbia County authorities are seeking an Augusta man for having sex with a 14-year-old girl, causing her to get pregnant.

Ricardo Devin Rodruquez Simmons, 26, is wanted for statutory rape, according to a wanted poster released Thursday by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

During a February interview at the Child Enrichment Center in Augusta, the girl, who is now 15, disclosed that “she had sexual intercourse with Ricardo Simmons during the month of April 2021,” a sheriff’s report says. The girl became pregnant and gave birth to the baby.

The Child Advocacy Center is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance and provides Forensic Interviewing of children suspected of having been physically or sexually abused.

A sheriff’s report says Simmons was 25 at the time of the sexual assault on the juvenile. He has a listed address on the 1900 block of Warren Street in Augusta.

If you have any information on the suspect’s location, please call the sheriff’s office at 706-541-2800.
