Augusta Man, 45, Found Dead Next to Electric Scooter; Autopsy will Be Done

The Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a man found Friday morning on the 2500 block of Gerbing Road in Augusta.

Angel Rosario Jr., 45, lived in that road. He was found next to an electric scooter in the roadway, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

Rosario was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m. Friday. He will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy.

Here is the press release from sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee:

“On Friday, April 9, 2021, at 05:39 AM,  the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2500 block of Gerbing Road in reference to a subject in the roadway. Upon arrival, Deputies located an unresponsive male in the street lying next to an electric scooter. Gold Cross and Fire Department also responded to the scene and determined the subject was deceased. The subject has been identified as Angel Rosario, Jr. — Hispanic male, 45 yoa, who lived on the 2500 block of Road.  The incident is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.”
