Augusta Man Becomes Richmond County’s 33rd Homicide After Shooting on 10th Avenue

The Coroner’s Office is investigating Monday night’s shooting death of 34-year-old Michael Holt Jr.

Holt was shot at least one time on the 1100 block of 10th Ave and transported to Augusta University Medical Center by EMS.  Holt was pronounced dead at 11:57 p.m. Monday.

Holt was transported to the GBI Lab for an autopsy, the coroner said.

The sheriff’s office issued this press release:

“On 10/21/2019 and at 11:10pm, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 1100 block of 10th Ave. in reference to a shooting, in which at least one person was shot. Upon Deputies arrival, they located the victim, Michael Holt (34YO, B/M, of Augusta, GA) to have suffered at least one gunshot wound. Holt was transported to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Holt was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The investigation is currently on-going and nothing further is being released at this time.”
