Richmond County authorities have arrested one suspect and are looking for a female in connection with a July 9 kidnapping outside the Family Dollar on Old McDuffie Road in Augusta, authorities said.
Kadarius Cheatham, 28, has been arrested, and Tatiana Mayes, 25, is wanted for the same charges of two counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and weapon possession.
The 27-year-old victim showed up at Augusta Fire Station on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with a harrowing tale:
The victim said he was outside the Family Dollar around 6:30 a.m. July 6 when a man drove up to him. The suspect accused the victim of shooting at him the night before. He said he had no idea what the man was talking about.
“Another unknown person got out of the vehicle from the passenger’s side,” a sheriff’s report says. “(They) kidnapped him and placed a plastic bag over his head.”
The suspects drove him to an area near MLK Boulevard and Mill Street, where the victim got away and ran through the woods. The suspect with dreads started shooting at him with multiple rounds and struck him in the left arm as he was running away, the report says. The victim then ran to the fire station for help.
Tatiana Mayes frequents the areas of Hicks Street and Trinity Manor Apartments. Any information concerning this suspect, please contact Inv. Britney Moore 706-821-4850, or any On-Duty Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1080.
