Augusta Man Killed After Double Shooting in Front of Dunkin on Washington Road

-

An Augusta man was killed Monday night after a double shooting in front of Dunkin and Baskin Robbins on Washington Road, authorities said.

Reginald Eugene Johnson, 32, of Boy Scout Road, was shot along with a second victim. Johnson was pronounced dead just before midnight, Coroner Mark Bowen said. The other man was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital. He was not named by authorities.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 11:34 p.m. Monday to business, right off Interstate 20, in reference to shots fired. No suspect description or motive was released.

“This incident is still being actively investigated and any further details will be released once they become available,” sheriff’s Sgt. William McCarty said.

Johnson spent much of his adult life in and out of prison for drug and theft convictions. He was just released in February after serving three years for drug offenses, but he had not been arrested in Richmond County since that time.

The victim – who was known by “Lil Reggie” by friends, is being remembered online.

Patrick Dawson said this on Facebook: “Everytime I called you it was I’m otw big bra and him and his old lady pull up and take me anywhere I want to go.. Dam RIP to a real one.”
