Augusta Man Lost 88 Pounds Since Summer & Had Maggots in Wounds; Daughter Arrested

-

An Augusta woman was charged with elderly neglect after her father showed up at the hospital weighing 66 pounds with maggots in his wounds.

Dianna Laws, 38, was allegedly serving as caregiver for her father, identified as 62-year-old Bobby Laws, who is in critical condition at Augusta University Medical Center.

The victim weighed 154 pounds when he left the hospital in July, according to a sheriff’s report. But he returned on Sunday after losing 88 pounds.

Laws is accused of depriving him of his needs and causing lacerations that had maggots in them.

“The Criminal Investigation Division has been diligently investigating this case,” a press release says. “Dianna Laws has been committed to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on two felony charges – Neglect to a Disabled Adult, Elder, or Resident and Exploitation of an Elderly or Disabled Person.”
