Augusta Man Sought in January Club Rain Murder

An Augusta man is being sought in the January shooting death outside Club Rain on Gordon Highway.

Michael “Meat” Scott, 29, is wanted for murder and weapon possession in the death of 22-year-old Chrishawn Bennelle Martin.  The suspect is known to frequent the Basswood Drive neighborhood and should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

The victim was shot at least once on Jan. 20 and died from his injuries after being rushed to Well Star MCG Health. Sheriff’s investigators were called to the hospital about the victim and later learned that the shooting happened at Club Rain at 1855 Gordon Highway.

Scott is a convicted felon, twice charged with felony drug possession, including an arrest for dealing marijuana as well as obstruction of an officer. But he was given plea deals after both arrests and sentenced to probation.
