Augusta Man Wanted for Reckless Conduct by HIV Person; Victim Found Out His Status on Facebook

-

An Augusta man is being sought for Reckless Conduct by an HIV-infected person, authorities said.

Geoffrey David Johnson, 32, is wanted on an outstanding warrant for the felony charge.

A sheriff’s report gives more of the background: A woman reported in June that she was physically assaulted by Johnson on May 1 but she did not report the incident until she saw a Facebook post in June. On the post, Johnson was calling names and saying he was HIV positive. She was worried about being infected by him.

The victim said she had been in a sexual relationship with Johnson from July 2019 to April 2020. She said had never been advised by Johnson or anyone that he was HIV positive, and she had unprotected sex with him numerous times.

Anyone having knowledge of Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Inv. Ken Rogers or any Violent Crimes Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.
