Augusta Shoplifter Caught with Mang-O-Rita in His Pants on July 4th

-

A Walmart shoplifter must really like those sparkling margaritas.

Nathaniel Maddox, 40, of Grovetown, was busted on the Fourth of July inside of the men’s bathroom of the Wrightsboro Road store with the drink in his pants. It was valued at $2.73.

Mang-O-Rita is marketed as a “beer/cocktail crossover that balances the exceptional flavors of margarita lime, juicy mango and beer.”

In his defense, it was a holiday. But Maddox doesn’t always like to pay for what he wants. In fact, he has a previous conviction for shoplifting in Columbia County.

Also, when Maddox was found in the bathroom Sunday by special-duty officer Sean Morrow, the suspect was trying to open a box for a Dremel tool that he had not paid for, according to a sheriff’s report. That item was priced at $36.97.

“Inv. Morrow while searching Nathaniel Maddox recovered a Mangorita in the groin section beneath the boxers,” the report says.

Maddox lives 12 miles away from the store, a long way to travel for a free beer. In the end, he actually lost his freedom and spent his Independence Day in jail for misdemeanor shoplifting.
