Augusta Teen Arrested for False Reports to 911

-

An Augusta teenager was arrested Saturday after four days of making fake 911 calls.

Each time he called, 17-year-old Brandon Carter would report “shots being fired and one person being shot,” according to warrants. Each report turned out to be false and took the time of deputies to investigate.

Carter, of 1815 Belmont Ave., was caught Saturday and charged with unlawful conduct during 911 call. The calls were made on April 12, 14, 17, and 19.

Deputies were creative when they finally caught the suspect. Officers asked 911 dispatchers to call the number back that was used to report the gunfire. When they did, the cell phone in Carter’s pocket rang.

Carter remained in jail Monday morning under no bond.
