Augusta Woman Throws Boiling Water at Husband

-

A suicidal Augusta woman boiled water and then threw it at her husband this week, sending him to Doctor’s Hospital Burn Unit with serious injuries to his left leg, authorities said.

Sandra Boutte, 50, of Horseshoe Road, has been charged with aggravated battery against her husband, John Boutte.

The couple had been arguing for several hours Sunday when the woman suddenly went to the stove and put on a pot of boiling water, according to a sheriff’s report. She threatened to kill her husband and then herself.

Mrs. Boutte blocked her son and another witness from turning off the stove. The woman’s husband approached his wife to calm her down, but she took the pot of water and threw it toward his head and torso, the report says.

Mr. Boutte deflected the pot, but the hot water struck his left leg, causing significant burns that made his skin start to drop off by the time help arrived.

Mrs. Boutte fled out the back door before deputies arrived, and she was captured Tuesday and jailed under no bond.
