Butler High Student Attacked with Barbell to Head, Suffering ‘Major Injuries’; His Attacker was Arrested

A Butler High School athlete was attacked last week with a barbell to his head, leaving him in intensive care with serious injuries.

The student, identified by sources as Zabriel Boozer, suffered an open skull fracture and was rushed to the trauma unit at Augusta University Medical Center.

The school district has released no details on the attack and has ignored multiple media requests on Friday and Monday.

But The Jail Report has obtained this email, sent only to school board members:

“Following the June League tryout at Butler High School, a student was hit in the back of the head by another student. The aggressor used a metal pipe which caused major injuries. He was arrested and remains in detention center at DJJ. The victim was hospitalized and underwent surgery… We have not received a report regarding his condition. I will keep you posted as we complete our investigation.”

The email was sent by Brenda Walden, senior executive administrative assistant to the superintendent.

Boozer is listed as 6’5″ tall as a freshman and played basketball and football for local schools. Sources say he required a titanium plate in his head during brain surgery.
