Augusta mom Marina Middlebrooks is being charged today with murder in the stabbing death of her 2-year-old daughter Sky Allen.
The toddler died as a result of sharp force injury to the neck, and the child was found dead Thursday afternoon when Middlebrooks wrecked her SUV on Ray Owens Road in Appling, Ga, authorities say. The 29-year-old mother hit a tree head on and was also found to have cut wounds on her.
Middlebrooks, of 2532 Norton Blvd., Augusta, was arrested at 2 p.m. today and charged with murder and cruelty to children – causing excessive physical or mental pain. The suspect is reportedly a former Army soldier.
