A Columbia County jailer was fired and arrested this week after her bosses learned that she had cashed her paycheck twice, according to a press release.
Deputy Jailer TiQuita Miles had worked at the jail since September 2017. She is 28 years old and lives in Grovetown.
A press release says Miles “conducted a mobile deposit with a payroll check and later cashed the same check.” She was fired Friday and arrested for theft by taking with a bond set at $5,200.
“Because of Miles’ position in law enforcement and the public trust bestowed upon her, to say that we are disappointed is an understatement,” Maj. Steve Morris said in the release. “To have an officer involved in such a shameful activity is not only a violation of the law and the public’s trust, but a complete dishonor to this agency and the deputies who uphold the integrity and honor that goes along with the badge.”
