Coroner Identifies Jackson Couple Who Were Murdered

-

The Jackson couple found dead in their home have been identified as 70-year-old Sandra L. Cochran and 74-year-old Louis “Baker” Cochran of the Green Pond Road, the coroner said.

The victims were found dead at a Jackson residence Tuesday and authorities were hunting for armed suspects driving the victims’ stolen vehicle. “The pair appeared to have died from multiple gun shot wounds,” Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2570 Green Pond Road in the Jackson area for a reported dead body.

“When responding deputies arrived on scene, they found a deceased person in the residence,” sheriff’s Capt. Eric Abdullah said. “They were informed by the 911 caller that she came to check on a co-worker and when she got there she found the person who was deceased.”

When deputies searched the scene, they found another deceased person who was found behind the home and the victim’s car missing. It is a red in color 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with a tan top, and bearing SC License # CBL872.

A neighbor posted this on our Facebook page on Tuesday: “He was a teacher and she was disabled. They own horses.”

The neighbor said the couple were known to decorate at Christmas: “They always had a nice manger scene. Really sweet couple.”

Sandra & Baker Cochran of JacksonJohnna Olson sent us this 1999 wedding photo of the Cochrans.

“Sandy and Baker Cochran were very sweet, loving couple,” she told us. “All my children and myself were in their wedding. Sandy loved her animals with everything she had. Caring deeply for their well being. Baker was a hard worker and relished the ability to share his knowledge with young people. My heart is broken and sadden deeply. RIP my dear friends, you will be missed.”
