Coroner Identifies Victim in Augusta’s Latest Murder

-

An Augusta man who spent eight years in prison for shooting a local teenager was identified as the victim in the area’s latest murder.

Ceon Ulmer, 38, of Jenkins Street, was found Tuesday morning outside a residence on the 1800 block of Warren Street with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:11 a.m. Tuesday, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

No arrest or suspect information has been announced.

Ulmer made headlines a decade ago for shooting a 19-year-old man at Augusta Manor apartments. In that 2013 case, Ulmer’s father called Sheriff Richard Roundtree to surrender his son after his photo had appeared on the news.

Ulmer, a convicted felon, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the shooting, but was released in 2021 after serving eight years. He had previously served time for obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Ulmer did not shy away from his criminal background, creating a Facebook page and using his mugshot as his profile photo.
