Cowardly Suspect with ‘Machine Gun’ Shoots Augusta Man at Castle Pines Trailer Park

-

An Augusta man was shot overnight by a suspect with a “machine gun” while sitting in his car at Castle Pines Trailer Park, authorities said.

Dalton Garduno, 41, was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, where his condition was not immediately available.

Deputies got the call at 1:13 a.m. Tuesday, where the victim was able to tell deputies what happened. He said he was sitting in his vehicle when he was shot several times in the back of his left side, a sheriff’s report says. Garduno said he was unaware of the assault until it occurred.

Deputies talked to another resident who had audio cameras that recorded 27 gunshots. The camera did not capture video of the event because of the position.

A resident nearby witnessed the shooting, telling authorities that a bright red, older-model vehicle pulled up behind the victim. A man exited the the driver side and began firing a “machine gun” into the victim’s vehicle. The witness called 911 and stayed with Garduno until deputies arrived. The man said he could not give a description of the suspect.

The news spread across Facebook, where residents were calling the shooter “cowardly” for the way he picked an innocent victim and shot him from behind.

Richmond County authorities said they have no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 706-821-1020.
