Decaying Body Discovered in Parking Lot of Old Augusta Car Dealership

-

Authorities are investigating after the discovery of a decaying body in the parking lot of the former Johnson Cadillac dealership located at 1122 Walton Way.

The grim find was reported on Tuesday, prompting a response from the Coroner’s Office.

According to Coroner Mark Bowen, the body had been deceased for several days before being discovered. The condition of the remains has led investigators to deem the death as suspicious. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death, and to facilitate positive identification of the deceased.

The old Johnson Cadillac dealership has been vacant for some time, raising questions about how long the body had been there and whether it was related to the property’s disuse.

Authorities have not released further details or the identity of the deceased individual pending notification of family members and the completion of the autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
