DISMISSED: Statutory Rape Charge Dropped in Grovetown; Prosecutors Confirms Young Girl Lied About Age

-

Prosecutors have dropped a statutory rape charge on a local teen for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

They confirmed the Grovetown girl lied about her age, leading to the dismissal this week against 19-year-old Gavarein Hall.

According to a sheriff’s report, the girl’s mother rushed home after receiving a video from Snapchat of her underage daughter and Hall lying in bed together. After getting home, the woman’s daughter came downstairs wearing nothing but a shirt.

“She then waited for Hall to come down from the bedroom which took 20 minutes,” the report says. “When Hall came down, he told her that (her daughter) just came upstairs and told him she was 13. Hall also told her that (the girl) told him before he came over she was 17 about to be 18.”

The suspect told arriving deputies that the girl told him to come over to watch movies and hang out. So he came over and they watched movies.

The girl’s father arrived and asked Hall if they had sex while up in the bedroom, and Hall responded “yes,” the report says.  Hall then went to jail for statutory rape.
