Drunk Club-Goer Punches Cop While Getting Bounced from Garden City Social

-

A club-goer lost a fight with cops while getting bounced early Sunday from Garden City Social.

The mugshot of Branden King shows him bloodied and bruised and wearing some type of medical garb over his chest. He was charged with felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

King, 35, had gone to the Broad Street bar Saturday and got drunk, authorities said. When officers were called in to remove him around 2 a.m., King was insistent that he didn’t have his credit card.

“I’m not leaving!” he reportedly yelled. “Y’all have my card!”

The bar replied that they didn’t have his card, saying they swiped it earlier and gave it back. But the inebriated man started resisting demands that he leave, even as deputies tried escorting the 250-pound suspect outside.

During an intense struggle that lasted several minutes, King allegedly swung at Deputy Terrence Driggers, hitting him in the left side of his face. The deputy did not require medical treatment.

Officers eventually put restraints on the suspect and took him to jail for felony obstruction after he was checked out by paramedics. King remained there into the Fourth of July holiday under a $9,000 bond. A booking sheet says he is from the Bronx, New York.
