Evans Man Arrested with Gun at Augusta Regional Airport

-

An Evans man was discovered carrying a handgun in his carry-on luggage Monday morning at Augusta Regional Airport, authorities say.

Louis Wade Adler, 37, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon at an airport facility.

The .380-caliber handgun showed up in a screening when Adler was going through the security checkpoint, said Lauren Smith, the airport’s communications manager. Adler was interviewed by county marshals and arrested.

“I guess that he just forgot,” Smith said. “There was no malicious intent.”

Still, Adler’s mistake led to a detour in his plans to fly out of Augusta today, and he ended up in the Richmond County Jail. He has since posted bond on the weapon charge, according to jail records.
