Girl’s Pool Drowning is Under Investigation in Augusta, Coroner Says

-

A 2-year-old girl drowned in her pool Friday on Boykin Road in Augusta, sparking an investigation by multiple agencies.

Francesca Demosterne, daughter of Evens and Estepharnie Demosterne, was pulled from the deep end of the pool by her mother and transported to Augusta University Medical Center. The girl was pronounced dead at 4:56 p.m. Friday, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release. She was taken to the GBI for autopsy.

The case is being investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Family and Children Services and the Coroner’s Office.

Facebook pages suggest the family has not lived in Augusta long. The parents pages still say they live elsewhere. The girl’s mother, Estepharnie, is originally from Haiti while Mr. Demosterne is from Miami.
