Grovetown Man Attacks Wife After Her Cancer Treatment

-

How low can you go? Try this.

John Paul West 43, attacked his wife last Friday, just hours after her cancer treatment, according to a sheriff’s report.

It gets worse.

The 31-year-old Grovetown woman was resting in the garage when her husband returned to their home on Huntington Drive. She told deputies that she could tell that he was already intoxicated as they began talking in the garage.

A few minutes into their conversation, she began receiving text messages and pictures from “an unknown person” apologizing for having an affair with her husband. The caller stated that Mr. West told her that his wife was deceased, a report says.

An argument escalated when West ripped his wife’s shirt off, grabbed her by the back of her neck and tried to push her into their pond.

“She was able to grab onto a post in order not to fall in. She stated that he eventually became tired or frustrated of trying to throw her in and left the residence in his truck,” a report says.

He was later arrested for battery – family violence.

It’s unclear why the couple were still together. In January, he was arrested for the same crime as well as child cruelty. In that case, West allegedly threw a TV remote in her direction and hit her. The feud turned more violent when he elbowed her in the mouth, loosening a tooth.

The victim told authorities that the emotional and physical abuse has been an ongoing issue. She said she believes that his alcoholism is a catalyst for his behavior, a report says.
