Grovetown Police: Illegal Immigrant is Suspect in Multiple Sexual Batteries on Women

-

An illegal immigrant living in Grovetown was arrested Tuesday for aggravated sexual battery on a woman while she was unconscious, authorities said.

The criminal case against Jorge Pineda-Barbosa is just beginning as multiple women have stepped forward to claim they were sexually assaulted in similar fashion, according to Grovetown Police Sgt. Matthew Williamson.

Pineda-Barbosa, 40, is being held without bond as police work on additional charges for cases that date back years. Police say many of the victims were unconscious from drug use when the suspect allegedly took advantage of them.

The victim that led to this week’s arrest first stepped forward in February, saying that she was staying in an RV in a friend’s yard when the aggravated sexual battery took place. Since then, several other woman have come forward.

Sgt. Williamson said Pineda-Barbosa is in the country illegally and claims to be on a work visa, but that is not true.

The sergeant asks that anyone who may have been a victim of Pineda-Barbosa to please contact him at the Grovetown Police Department at 706-863-1212.
