A Harlem High School student was jailed last Thursday for smearing a classmate’s car with feces.
The victim found poop on her car Nov. 4 in the school’s parking lot. A school officer reviewed surveillance footage and identified 17-year-old Thomas Alan Cox as the suspect. He confessed to the crime in a written statement, according to a sheriff’s report.
“He stated he was talking to (the girl) and was interested in dating her,” the report says. “He asked her to the movies and she ‘shot him down.’ This made him mad. Today he went to her car in the school parking lot. He wrapped it in plastic wrap. He also smeared feces on the windows of the car.”
A sheriff’s deputy met with the girl and her mother, who owned the car and wanted Cox arrested. The officer also met with the suspect and his mother. Cox told the deputy that it was not his feces, but he would not identify where he got it.
The suspect’s mother begged the victim’s mother to allow her son to clean the car or have it detailed. The victim’s mother refused and asked for Cox to be prosecuted.
So he went to jail for criminal trespass, a generic charge for such crimes.
