A Hephzibah man was killed early Wednesday after being shot inside this home on Kingsgate Drive, authorities said.

Travis Beard, 46, was shot at least once around 4 a.m. Wednesday on the 3700 block of Kingsgate Drive and was pronounced dead about an hour later after being rushed to Wellstar MCG, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

An autopsy has been scheduled. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has not released any information on possible suspects or a motive.

Beard, who was known affectionately by his friends as “Black,” was being remembered online. Billy Gowen said, “Man, Black was a great guy!!!” Dakota Flake said, “One of the best I ever had the pleasure to work with. Fly high, Black.”
